43rd Filmfare Awards 1998 – Highlights

  1. Film Dil To Pagal Hai received the most awards in the 43rd Filmfare Awards (1998).
  2. Dil To Pagal Hai received eight (8) awards out of eleven nominations.
  3. Film Virasat received the most nominations. The film received sixteen (16) nominations and won seven (7) of them.
  4. By receiving sixteen (16) nominations, Virasat became the Highest Nominated film at that time. Virasat broke the record of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, which received fourteen nominations in the 41st Filmfare Awards (1996).
  5. Film Pardesh received the second-highest nominations. The film received twelve (12) nominations but won only three (3) of them.
  6. Film Dil To Pagal Hai received the third-highest nominations (11). However, it won the most awards in Filmfare Awards 1998.
  7. Film Border received ten (10) awards and won four (4) of them.
  8. It was for the first time when four films received ten or more nominations. Virasat (16), Pardes (12), Dil To Pagal Hai (11), Border (10).
  9. Film Gupt received eight (8) nominations and won three (3) of them.
  10. Kajol won the Best Villain Award for the film Gupt. By winning the award Kajol became the first actress to win the award for Best Villain.

  15. Jaya Bachchan received Filmfare Special Award.
