41st Filmfare Awards 1996 – Highlights

  1. Film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge received the most awards in the 41st Filmfare Awards (1996). The film received fourteen (14) nominations and won ten (10) of them.
  2. Film Rangeela received thirteen (13) nominations. The film won six (6) awards. Asha Bhosle received Filmfare Special Award for the Song Tanha Tanha from Rangeela. If this award is also counted as a nomination, the total nominations become fourteen.
  3. By receiving fourteen (14) nominations Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge became the most nominated film in the 41st Filmfare Awards (1996).
  4. Film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge also became the first film to receive all-time most nominations at that time.
  5. Film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge became the first film to won ten (10) awards in the history of Filmfare Awards.
  6. Film Karan Arjun received ten (10) nominations. However, the film won only two of them. The film won in the category of Best Editor and Best Action.
  7. Film Akele Hum Akele Tum received eight (8) nominations but failed to win any.
  8. Film Raja received seven (7) nominations but could not win any awards too.
  9. Film Barsaat received five (5) nominations and won four (4) of them.
  10. Asha Bhosle received Filmfare Special Award. She won it for the song Tanha Tanha Yahaan Pe Jeena from the film Rangeela.
  11. The Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singerwas introduced in the 6th Filmfare Awards (1959). Asha Bhosle received 20 nominations in 12 years from 1968-1979. Like her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar, she also requested not to consider her name for Filmfare nominations. Thus, the Jury decided to give Filmfare Special Award for the song..
