40th Filmfare Awards 1995 – Highlights
- Film 1942: A Love Story received the most awards in the 40th Filmfare Awards (1995).
- Film 1942: A Love Story won nine (9) awards. The film received thirteen (13) nominations.
- Film Hum Aapke Hain Koun also received thirteen (13) nominations. The film won five (5) awards out of them.
- By receiving thirteen (13) nominations 1942: A Love Story and Hum Aapke became the most nominated film in the 40th Filmfare Awards (1995).
- Film Mohra received nine (9) nominations. However, the film won only one award. Chinni Prakash won the award for Best Choreography for the song Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast.
- Film Krantiveer received seven (7) nominations and won four (4) out of them.
- Film Yeh Dillagi received five (5) nominations. However, the film did not win any awards.
- Film Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Andaz Apna Apna also did not win any awards. Both the films received four (4) nominations each.
- Shah Rukh Khan received a nomination in the category of Best Actor. He received the nomination for the film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. However, he won Critic’s Award for Best Actor in the 39th Filmfar Awards (1994) for the same film.
- Shah Rukh Khan won in the category of Best Villain. He received the award for the film Anjaam.
- Shah Rukh Khan also received a nomination for Best Villain for the film Darr in the 39th Filmfare Awards.
- Film Vijaypath received three (3) nominations and won one of them. Tabu won the award in the Best Female Debut category.
- Film Anjaam received two (2) nominations and won one of them. Shah Rukh Khan won the award for Best Villain.
- Film Laadla also received two (2) nominations but could not win any.
- Lata Mangeshkar received Filmfare Special Award for the song Didi Tera Devar Deewana from the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun.
- The Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer was introduced in the 6th Filmfare Awards (1959). Lata Mangeshkar received 19 nominations in 13 years from 1959 to 1971. Thereafter, she requested not to consider her name for a nomination. She did it to promote new talent. Thus, the Jury decided to give Filmfare Special Award for the song.
- Shammi Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman received FilmfareLifetime Achievement Award.
