61st Filmfare Awards were held in Mumbai on 15 January 2016. Shah Rukh Khan and comedian Kapil Sharma hosted the show. Kapil Sharma hosted the show for the second consecutive year. He hosted the 60th Filmfare Awards (2015) too along with Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, and Arjun Kapoor. Film Bajirao Mastani received the most awards in the 61st Filmfare Awards (2016).
The film received twelve (12) nominations and won nine (9) of them.
By receiving twelve (12) nominations, Bajirao Mastani became the most nominated film too.
Film Piku received second-most nominations. The film received six (6) nominations and won two (2) of them.
The film received seven (7) nominations and won three (3) of them.
Moreover, the film won Critic’s Best Film and Critic’s Best Actor Awards without any nominations. Thus, the total nominations and win come to nine and five respectively.
Film Tanu Weds Manu Returns received six (6) nominations and won two (2) of them.
Film Badlapur also received six (6) nominations but did not win any awards.
Film Talvar and Dum Laga Ke Haisha received five (5) nominations each. Both films received two (2) awards each too.
Film Dilwale also received five (5) nominations. However, the film did not win any awards.
Film Roy received four (4) nominations and won two (2) of them.
Film Dil Dhadakane Do, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and Tamasha also received four (4) nominations each. All three films won one (1) award each too.
