Film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai received the most awards in the 44th Filmfare Awards (1999). The film received eighteen (18) nominations and won eight (8) of them.
By receiving eighteen (18) nominations, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai became the Highest Nominated film at that time.
Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai broke the record of Virasat, which received sixteen (16) nominations in the 43rd Filmfare Award (1998).
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai maintained the record for the record of highest nominations for the next twenty years.
Thereafter, the film Padmaavat received eighteen nominations in the 64th Filmfare Awards (2019). However, the film won only four (4) awards.
Film Gully Boy broke the record for the highest nominations in the 65th Filmfare Awards 2020. The film received nineteen nominations and won thirteen (13) of them.
Earlier Virasat broke the record of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, which received fourteen nominations in the 41st Filmfare Awards (1996).
Film Dil Se received the second-highest nominations in the 44th Filmfare Awards (1999). The film received ten (10) nominations and won six (6) awards in the 44th Filmfare Awards (1999).
Film Satya received the third-highest nominations (9). The film also won six (6) awards.
Film Ghulam received six (6) nominations and won only one of them.
A new award category “Scene of the Year” was introduced. Ghulam became the first film to win the award in this category.
Film Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha received five (5) nominations and won only one of them.
Film China Gate and Soldier received four (4) nominations each. Both films won one award each too.
Film Dushman received three (3) nominations and won only one of them. Ashutosh Rana received the award in the category of Best Villain.
Film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Duplicate received two (2) nominations each. However, both films did not win any awards.
