Critic’s Award-39th Filmfare Awards (1994) 39th Filmfare Awards 1994 – Highlights Film Baazigar and Damini received the most awards in the 39th Filmfare Awards (1994).Both Baazigar and Damini won four (4) awards each. However, Baazigar received ten (10) nominations whereas Damini received seven (7)nominations only. Khalnayak received eleven (11) nominations and won two (2) of them.By receiving eleven (11) nominations Khalnayak became the most nominated film in the 39th Filmfare Awards (1994). Film Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and Damini both received seven (7) nominations each.However, Damini won four (4) awards and received the most awards along with Baazigar. Whereas, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke won three (3) awards. Film Gardish received six (6) nominations and won three (3) out of them. Film Sir received four (4) nominations and won two of them. Shah Rukh Khan won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for Baazigar. He also received Critic’s Award for Best Actor for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Sunny Deol was nominated for the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for the same film Darr.This peculiar situation, when an actor or actress was nominated in both categories, occurred for the fourth time in the history of Filmfare Awards. Earlier Ashok Kumar was nominated in the category of Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for the same film Aashirwad, in the 17th Filmfare Awards 1970. He won the Best Actor Award. In the 21st Filmfare Awards (1974), Nutan was nominated for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for the same film Saudagar. However, she failed to win either. Thereafter, Rakhee received nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress , in the 25th Filmfare Awards (1978) , for the same film Doosra Aadmi. However, she too failed to win either.
