Film Parineeta and Black dominated the 51st Filmfare Awards 2006. Parineeta received fifteen (15) nominations and Black received eleven (11) nominations.
By receiving fifteen (15) nominations, Parineeta became the most nominated film of this year.
Film Black became the most awarded film by winning eleven (11) awards.
Film Black is the only film in the History of Filmfare Awards that received more than ten (10) nominations and won all of them.
Film Bunty Aur Babli received seven (7) nominations and won three of them.
Film Dus received five nominations but won only one of them.
Allan Amin won the award for Best Action.
Film Sarkar and Page 3 received four (4) nominations each and won one award each too.
Film No Entry also received four (4) nominations.
However, the film could not win any awards.
Film Iqbal and Salaam Namaste received three (3) nominations each.
Both films failed to win any award.
Film Apaharan and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi received two nominations each.
Both films won two awards each.
Film Zeher and Waqt: The Race Against Time also received two nominations each. However, both did not win any awards.
Abhishek Bachchan won Best Supporting Actor for the film Sarkar.
He won this award for the second consecutive year.
Abhishek Bachchan won this award in the 50th Filmfare Awards (2005) too for the film Yuva.
Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra received Power Award.
Shabana Azmi received Lifetime Achievement Award in the 51st Filmfare Awards (2005)
Shantanu Moitra received a nomination in the category of Best Music Director. Music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy won the award for the film Bunty Aur Babli. Shantanu Moitra, however, won the R.D. Burman Award.
