31st Filmfare Awards were held in Bombay (now Mumbai) on 30 April 1984. Here is the list of Nominees and Winners of various Award recipients of the 31st Filmfare Awards (1984).
It was the second time when Parallel Cinema or New Wave Cinema won most of the awards. Earlier in the 29th Filmfare Awards 1982, it happened for the first time.
Film Ardh Satya and Masoom received the most awards in the 31st Filmfare Awards (1984). Masoom received eight (8) nominations whereas Ardh Satya received six (6) nominations.
By receiving eight nominations (8) nominations, Masoom and Betaab became the most nominated film in the 31st Filmfare Awards.
Film Betaab became the second film in the history of Filmfare Awards when one of the most nominated films could not win even a single award.
Earlier, in the 26th Filmfare Awards (1979), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar received nine (9) nominations but could not win a single award. Therefore, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar became the first film in the history of Filmfare Awards when the most/one of the most nominated films could not win even a single award.
Film Ardh Satya and Arth both received seven (7) nominations. These films won three (3) awards too.
Film Avtaar received five nominations but did not win any of them.
Similarly, Film Souten received four (4) nominations. However, the film did not win any like Avtar. Rajesh Khanna was the lead actor in both films.
Film Vijeta (3 wins), Agar Tum Na Hote (1 win), Sadma, and Mandi received three awards each. Sadma and Mandi did not win any awards.
