Best Documentary

Critic’s Awards for Best Documentary was introduced in the 15th Filmfare Awards (1968). Documentary Film “Explorer” won the Critics Award in 1969.

16th Filmfare Awards 1969 – Highlights

  • Film Brahmachari received the most awards.
    • The film received nine (9) nominations and won six (6) of them.
    • By receiving nine (9) nominations Brahmachari also received the most nominations in the 16th Filmfare Awards 1969. Brahmachari won the Best Film Award too.
  • Neel Kamal received the second-highest nominations.
    • The film received eight (8) nominations and won only one (1) out of them.
  • Ankhen received seven (7) nominations and won two (2) out of them.
  • Shikar received five (5) nominations and won four (4) all of them.
  • Majhli Didi, Saathi, and Saraswatichandra received two (2) nominations each. Surprisingly, all three films win their two nominations each.
