28th Filmfare Awards 1981 – Highlights
- Film Aakrosh received the most awards in the 28th Filmfare Awards (1981). The film received seven (7) nominations and won six (6) out of them.
- Film Insaaf Ka Tarazu received nine (9) nominations and became the most-nominated film.
- Film Thodisi Bewafaii and Aasha received second-most nominations (8 each). Thodisi Bewafaii won two out of eight (8) nominations.
- Aasha received eight (8) nominations too but did not win any awards.
- Thus Aasha became the third film in the history of Filmfare Awards that could not win a single award even after second-most nominations
- It was the 3rd consecutive year when a film, which received second-most nominations, could not win any awards.
- Earlier Trishul became the first film that could not win a single award after having second-most nominations (6) in the 26th Filmfare Awards (1979).
- Thereafter, Kaala Patthar became the second film that could not win a single award after having second-most nominations (8) in the 27th Filmfare Awards (1980).
- Aakrosh was a surprise package for everyone. The film received seven nominations and won six of them.
- Film Qurbani received six (6) nominations. The film won two awards out of these six nominations.
- Film Karz also received six (6) nominations. However, the film won only one (1) award. The film won for Best Music. Music duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal won the award.
- Film Dostana received three nominations but did not win any.
- Film Shaan received two nominations and won one of them. The film won in the category of Bes Cinematography.
- Film Judaai also received two nominations but could not win any of them.
