This was the first time in the history of Filmfare Awards when four films share the most wins. Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Chakra, Kalyug, and Kudrat equally won three (3) awards each.
The film Ek Duuje Ke Liye dominated the award ceremony with 13 nominations. However, it could win only three out of them.
By receiving 13 nominations, Ek Duuje Ke Liye became the most nominated film in the 29th Filmfare Awards.
It was the first time when Parallel Cinema or New Wave Cinema won most of the awards.
Film Chakra received second-most nominations (6) and won three (3) out of them.
Film Kalyug received five (5) nominations and Kudrat received four (4) nominations. Both films won three (3) awards each.
Film Baseraa received five (5) nominations but did not win any of them.
Film Chashme Buddor also received five (5) nominations but did not win any of them.
Film Silsila and Yaarana received three (3) nominations each. But both films failed to receive any awards.
Amitabh Bachchan’s four (4) films received nominations in the 29th Filmfare Awards. These films were Silsila (3 Nominations), Laawaris (3 Nominations), Yaarana (2 Nominations), and Naseeb (1 Nomination). However, no film could win any awards.
The jury chose Padmini Kolhapure for the Filmfare Special Award. She won the award for the film Ahista Ahista.
