1. Film Karz was one of the Highest Grossing Hindi Movies of 1980. The tentative budget of the film was 2.75 Crore INR. It earned approximately 5.50 Crore INR at the Box Office and became the 9th Highest Grossing Bollywood Movie of 1980.
2. Subash Ghai, the producer-director, launched his production banner Mukta arts on 24 October 1978 with his first film as Karz.
3. Film Karz received six (6) Filmfare nominations in the 28th Filmare Awards (1981) but won only one (1).
4. The duo Laxmikant-Pyarelal won the Filmfare Best Music Director in 1981.
   • Laxmikant-Pyarelal received another nomination in the same category for the film Aasha.
5. Anand Bakshi received a Filmfare nomination for the song Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar in the Best Lyricist category.
   • He received another Filmfare Nomination for the song Om Shanti Om (Meri Umar Ke Naujawaano) from Karz.
   • Anand Bakshi received two more nominations at the 28th Filmare Awards (1981) as under:
     1. Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho from Aasha.

   • Song Tu Solah Baras Ki ranked #15. However, the songs Pardesiya Ye Sach Hai Piya at #6 and Saawan Ke Jhoole Pade at #7 were mere glimpses only. Thus, Tu Solah Barak Ki ranked #13 in the Binaca Geetmala 1980.
   • Another song Om Shanti Om (Meri Umar Ke Naujawaano), ranked #2 in the Binaca Geetmala 1980.
9. The song Dard-E-Dil Dard-E-Jigar was a trendsetter for disco music in the Indian music industry.
   • During the shooting of the song Dard-E-Dil-Dard-E-Jigar, the dance director couldn’t come. Thus, Subhash Ghai choreographed this song himself.
   • The incident repeated itself after years on the set of Ram Lakhan, and Subhash Ghai choreographed Tera Naam Liya.
