The Filmfare R. D. Burman Award is a part of the annual Filmfare Awards. These awards are presented by the Filmfare Magazine (Times Group).
The First Filmfare Awards were held on 21 March 1954 in Bombay (now Mumbai). However, the R. D. Burman Award was introduced in the 40th Filmfare Awards (1995).
The award is named after the great Music Director & Singer Rahul Dev Burman. His father Sachin Dev Burman was also a great Music Director.
The award is presented to acknowledge new and upcoming talent in the Bollywood Music Industry.
Music Director A.R. Rahman became the first recipient of this award in 40th Filmfare Awards (1995). Gulzar received the award in the 66th Filmfare Awards (2021). Here is the list of the recipient of the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award.
