The Filmfare Award for Best Costume Design Award is a part of the annual Filmfare Awards. These awards are presented by the Filmfare Magazine (Times Group).
The First Filmfare Awards were held on 21 March 1954 in Bombay (now Mumbai). However, the Filmfare Award for Best Costume Design was introduced in the 40th Filmfare Awards (1995).
Famous Fashion Designer Manish Malhotra became the first recipient of this award. Veera Kapur Ee received the award in the 66th Filmfare Awards (2021).
- Dolly Ahluwalia holds the record for winning the award three times.
- She first won the award for the film Omkara in the year 2007.
- Thereafter, she won the award for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in the 59th Filmfare Awards (2014).
- She won it for the 3rd time in the 60th Filmfare Awards (2015) also for the film Haider.
- The award was not given from 1996 to 2006.
- The award was also not given in the 62nd Filmfare Awards (2017).
