- The Award was earlier known as the Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of The Year. The word “Lux” refers to a global Brand of Soap developed by Hindustan Unilever.
- Juhi Chawla became the first actress to receive the award in the 34th Filmfare Awards 1989. She won it for the film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.
- There were two winners of the award in the year 1995 and the year 2004.
- In the year 1995 Tabu won it for Vijaypath and Sonali Bendre won it for Naaraaz.
- Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta won the Award for the film Andaaz in the year 2004.
- Bhagyashree won the Award for Maine Pyar Kiya in the 35th Filmfare Awards (1990). Later her son Abhimanyu Dassani won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in the 65th Filmfare Awards (2020). He won it for the film Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018).
- Similarly, Sara Ali Khan won the Award for Kedarnath in the 64th Filmfare Awards (2019). Earlier her father Saif Ali Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in the 39th Filmfare Awards (1994). He won it for the film Aashiq Awara (1993).
