About

The Screen Award for Best Music Director is a part of the annual Screen Awards. The award is chosen by the Jury members. Screen Award for Best Music Director is popularly known as Star Screen Award for Best Music Director.

Screen Awards came into existence in the year 1994. The first award ceremony was held in 1995 in Mumbai, India. The 1st Screen Awards is also known as Screen Awards 1995.

The Screen Award for Best Music Director was first given in the 1st Screen Awards 1995. R.D. Burman became the first recipient of the Screen Award for Best Music Director. He received the award for 1942: A Love Story (1994).
