Film Ghayal dominated the award ceremony in the year 1991.
Ghayal received the most awards in the 36th Filmfare Awards (1991). The film received seven (7) awards out of eight (8) nominations. Only Om Puri could not win the award for Best Supporting Actor.
Film Dil also received eight (8) nominations. However, the film won only one (1) award. Madhuri Dixit won in the category of Best Actress.
By receiving eight (8) nominations Ghayal and Dil became the most nominated films.
Film Pratibandh won the second-highest awards. The film received five (5) nominations and won all of them.
Film Agneepath also received five (5) nominations. However, the film won only two of them.
Film Aashiqui received second-highest nominations. The film received seven (7) nominations and won four (4) of them.
Film Baaghi: A Rebel for Love received three (3) nominations. The film, however, did not win any awards.
Film Daddy received two nominations and won both of them.
Moreover, Anupam Kher won the Critic’s Best Actor Award for the film Daddy.
Film Jurm and Aaj Ka Arjun both received two (2) nominations each. However, both films failed to win any awards.
Lifetime Achievement Award was introduced in the 36th Filmfare Awards. Amitabh Bachchan became the first Film Personality to receive it.
